Therapies available at Evolution Health
Listed here are the therapies currently available at Evolution Health's Whitstable clinic:
Acupuncture – Dry Needling
Bowen Therapy
Bowen Therapy (also known as The Bowen Technique) is a drug free, non-intrusive hands-on remedial therapy which can be administered through light clothing, with the client sitting, standing or lying. Using very gentle pressure, the therapist places thumbs and fingers on precise points of the body to perform unique rolling-type moves which stimulate the muscles and soft tissue of the body. There is no manipulation or adjustment of hard tissue and no force is used. The experience is gentle, subtle and relaxing.
It is believed that the Bowen Therapy prompts the body to reset, repair and balance itself. Clients report the experience of pain relief, improvement of function and recovery of energy.
Bowen has a remarkable record of success with clients affected by an astonishingly wide range of problems – often when nothing else has helped. It helps the body’s system rebalance and promotes healing. Bowen is suitable for men, women and children of all ages.
Common presentations for treatment include (but are not limited to):
- Most commonly lower back pain
- Shoulder pain and restriction
- Hip Issues
- Knee problems
- Neck issues
- Migraine and headaches
- Sleep issues
- Hayfever and chronic sinus congestion
Both acute (short term) and chronic (longer term) problems are addressed. Usually acute issues can be resolved within 1-2 sessions, whereas longer term complaints may take longer (3-6 sessions), with some people requiring regular ‘maintenance’ sessions.
You will usually know within 3 appointments if Bowen can help you.
Chiropody / Podiatry
Chiropody, now also known as Podiatry, is a science that deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders, diseases, and deformities of the human feet.
A wide range of conditions can be treated:
- Nail surgery
- Ingrown toenails
- Hard foot skin
- Cracked heels
- Fungal diseases
- Athlete’s foot
- Bunions, corns and calluses
Chiropractic
Chiropractors are neuromuscular-skeletal specialists and as such, assess, diagnose and treat conditions of the joints, muscles and nervous system. The majority of conditions are the result of mechanical stresses applied to the body through normal activities of daily living, poor posture and progressive wear and tear as the body naturally ages.

“For those who want to explore the patterns of relations that have shaped who you are, and to use this insight to become differently, anew.”
- Grow through adversity
- Reflect on your past, explore your present, map your future
- Where difference is not a problem, but a place to begin
- Being alongside you while you become anew.
Relationfull Counselling encompasses thoughts about what happens if one looks at relations “all the way down”. The approach is to try, as far as is possible, to use our relationships to help understand and alter the pattern of relations that are shaping their psychological distress.
This Counselling is able to assist all individuals and all ages with general mental health challenges in relationships and all occupations – as well as being able to assist all ‘blue-light’ professions such as police, firefighters, paramedics, health care workers and military personnel.

Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy
The practice of Hypnotherapy is based in neuroscience and can help individuals change the neural pathways in their brain to alter their habits and find healthier solutions. Unlike traditional talk therapy, you are not asked to talk about your past and come to terms with it.
You cannot change your past and so you fill focus on what you can change—your future, what your goals have, how you want your future to be, what you would like to be doing rather than what you don’t want to be doing—and then you will gradually move toward that future, one small step at a time. Sessions are always positive and supportive.
Hypnotherapy is not a long-term therapy. We generally work fast, and you can often achieve your goals in months rather than years.
Hypnotherapy may assist with various conditions:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Anger management
- OCD
- Phobias
- Smoking
- Weight management
- Interviews
- Driving tests
- Sports Performance
- Grief
- Supporting fertility
- Chronic fatigue
- Eating disorders
- Self-harming
- Performance anxiety
- Pain management
- Stress
- Addictions
- Exam worries
- Insomnia
- and more
Each session is a combination of talk therapy and trance. The focus is on what you want your future to look like and how you can get there, one small step at a time, and does not include talking about your past. Trance is very normal, as you will discover. We ‘zone out’ or move to a trance state, when driving, watching television, or sitting in a boring meeting!
You, as an individual, have the answers to all your own questions within yourself about the best way forward and the Hypnotherapist will help you find those answers within yourself. You are always in control and cannot be made to anything you do not want to do. The Hypnotherapist cannot and will not make you cluck like a chicken!!
Hypnotherapy is suitable for all ages, including children (as young as 8 years old).
Sport & Exercise Psychology
- Improve your mental game
- Optimise injury recovery
- Adjust to retirement
- Flourish through sport
Sport and Exercise Psychology is a profession regulated by the Health Care and Professions Council of which Mark is a registered practitioner. The practice of Sport and Exercise Psychology is broadly directed toward helping individuals and teams develop their enjoyment of, and performance in, sport and exercise contexts.
The provision may be directed towards individuals, members of a team (e.g., coaches, sport science professionals), or wider systemic support. The landscape of Sport and Exercise Psychology has changed in recent decades and so there is a greater appreciation of how the principles and practices that characterize successful outcomes in sport and exercise can be applied to a range of different domains where “performance” is considered valuable in other professions such as music, dance, public services, or business.
Sport Psychologists help athletes maximize their sport potential and mental well-being, using psychological principles to equipe athletes with mental strategies to manage and improve performance and competition anxiety, to assist with injury rehabilitation and recovery, to build personal confidence, and to optimize overall competitive performance.
If this sounds like something that could be of interest to you, please do get in touch with Mark who will provide an initial free video call to answer any questions and to explain the next steps. Mark offers a discount to those who hold a blue light card.
